Freedom Before Exploitation

Over the last several months, we’ve been sharing more about the direction God is leading Kingdom Development. We believe God has called us not only to develop our own ministries, but also to identify faithful people and organizations already serving in difficult places and then come alongside them to strengthen, encourage, and expand their work. Today, we are excited to introduce you to one of those partners: Serey Ministries.

The word “serey” means freedom in Khmer. That name expresses the heartbeat of their ministry. Serey works among vulnerable children, young people, and families in rural communities surrounding Siem Reap. These communities face deep poverty, unsafe migration, limited education, domestic violence, debt bondage, child labor, and the constant threat of exploitation.

Serey’s desire is to intervene before exploitation begins. They work closely with schools, teachers, village leaders, churches, and individual families to address the conditions that place people at risk. Their team provides child-protection and prevention lessons, school materials, family assistance, vocational training, small-business support, clean-water projects, and community safety training.

But their work is more than a collection of programs. Every week, their Cambodian team enters communities, sits inside family homes, listens to painful stories, builds trust with local leaders, and walks patiently alongside people who often feel forgotten. And in the midst of that practical work, they seek opportunities to share the hope and freedom found in Jesus. Cambodia is a deeply spiritual country. In many of the villages where Serey works, families live under tremendous fear: fear of spirits, curses, poverty, abuse, and an uncertain futures. Serey longs to see that fear replaced by the peace and freedom that come through Christ.

That combination of practical compassion, long-term relationship, and gospel hope is one of the reasons we are so grateful to partner with them. Over the next few weeks, we want to introduce you more fully to Serey’s work, the communities they serve, and the ways Kingdom Development is coming alongside them. For now, would you begin by praying? Please pray that:

• God would protect and strengthen Serey’s team.

• Hearts would be opened to the gospel.

• Vulnerable children and families would experience safety, dignity, and hope.

• God would guide this new partnership and use it to produce lasting Kingdom fruit.
