New Life In Christ

Over the past several weeks, we’ve been introducing you to Serey Ministries and sharing why we believe so strongly in the work they are doing among some of Cambodia’s hardest-to-reach communities.

But today, we want to show you what that actually looks like as we partner with them.

Recently, Serey Ministries got to participate in several baptisms of people from one of the floating villages where they serve!

What makes their story so encouraging is how it began. This family didn't come to know about Christ by walking into a church or attending a large evangelistic event. The relationship began because Serey was already there.

Their team has regularly gone into this hard-to-reach communities… building relationships, listening to families, meeting practical needs, and faithfully creating opportunities to share the hope of the gospel.

Over time, relationships have grown. Doors have opened. The gospel is being shared.

And now, four people have publicly declared their faith in Christ through baptism.

This is the kind of fruit we pray for… it’s so much more than meeting practical needs. Investing in people creates opportunities for them to encounter the hope found in Jesus.

And this is why Kingdom Development is partnering with Serey Ministries.

We believe investing in the next generation means more than running our own programs (though we still do)! Sometimes it also means recognizing where God is already at work and coming alongside faithful Cambodian ministries already doing the work: strengthening them, providing resources, encouraging their leaders, and helping open doors that might otherwise remain closed.

So what does our partnership actually look like?

Kingdom Development is coming alongside Serey in several practical ways:

  • Prayer — intentionally bringing their leaders, communities, and ministry needs before God.

  • Financial partnership — providing a U.S.-based, tax-deductible avenue for those who specifically want to invest in Serey’s work and helping connect resources to needs on the ground.

  • Advocacy — telling their stories and introducing their ministry to churches and individuals who may want to come alongside them.

  • Encouragement and relationship — walking with their leaders as friends and ministry partners rather than simply funding projects.

  • Future collaboration — looking for opportunities where our relationships, experience, and resources can help Serey reach more families and communities.

So how can you be part of this?

As Serey Ministries grows, God continues to open new doors in these communities and with those opportunities come some very practical needs.

One of those needs is a more permanent presence in one of the central villages where they serve. Serey is currently working through the details of establishing a small house/community center there. Having a place in the village would allow their team to be present more consistently, deepen relationships with families, and provide things like after-school programs and activities for children.

As those plans develop, we hope there will be some very tangible ways Kingdom Development can come alongside them. One idea we're already discussing for the future is helping provide a shaded gathering area and small playground for the children who will use the center. We'll share more about that when the time is right.

But there are ways you can partner with us right now.

First, pray. Serey has specifically asked for people who will faithfully pray for their leaders, their ministries, and the villages where they are serving. We are currently putting together a simple 7-day prayer card, with one area of their ministry to pray for each day of the week.

If you'd like one of these prayer cards, simply reply to this blog on our website and say, “Send me the Serey prayer card.” I'll make sure you're on the list when it's ready.

Second, look to the future and what God can bring through this partnership by helping us tell there story alongside our own. When you talk about Kingdom Development and the work God has allowed us to be part of in Cambodia, Serey is now part of that story.

One of the ways we believe we can invest in the next generation is by identifying faithful Cambodian leaders and ministries, building genuine relationships with them, and using the resources and relationships God has given us to help strengthen their work.

That's what this partnership is about.

It isn't something separate from the work of Kingdom Development. It is part of the work of Kingdom Development. Coming alongside faithful people who are already reaching their communities and asking: “How can we help you do what God has called you to do?”

We are deeply thankful for what God has allowed Kingdom Development to do over the years. And we're increasingly convinced that one of the best ways we can steward what He has entrusted to us is to help faithful people already doing faithful work do more of it.

This is one of those opportunities.

Thank you for continuing to invest with us in the next generation.
